An Invitation to Love are a band from Seattle, Washington, who make melodic hard rock that has been described as “Slinty.” Inspired by 90’s era Northwest bands and the TV show Twin Peaks, they’ve made a 5-song EP called Boxcar.

“An Invitation to Love is the grunge band fronted by Ball of Wax regular… Louis O’Callaghan. Louis has had many songs on Ball of Wax over the years, whether as his longtime solo project The Graze, its new moniker, Sun Tunnels, or with An Invitation to Love. I love Louis’s voice and his songwriting, and I absolutely adore the noises he wrenches out of an overdriven electric guitar, which he doesn’t do nearly enough. I also think Sam Jansons and Brian Massey are just about the perfect rock rhythm section. So of course I love this EP, and if you love loud guitars and Twin Peaks, you will too. I do hope they won’t make us wait too long for a full-length.”

The Graze – Give/Sell

Second album from one-man band the Graze.

“Give/Sell is an instantly-likeable collection of lo-fi folk songs — something that’s furthered by O’Callaghan’s vocal kinship with the likes of Jeff Mangum, Ryan Adams and John Vanderslice.”
– Sara Brickner, Seattle Weekly

“…a solid set of lo-fi indie/folk tunes that at times recall Elliot Smith’s brooding and Neutral Milk Hotel’s songwriting knack.”
– Nico Janssen, KEXP 90.3 FM Seattle

Members of Seattle bands Open Choir Fire, An Invitation to Love, and Rosyvelt sometimes make folk music, and when they do it’s called Mississippi Painful. One Sunday in May they played ten songs at bass player Brian’s house, and recorded it live. No overdubs allowed! Except two, but they’re not saying what they were. Then they had a cookout.

No Recession is presented in CDR format inside screenprinted cardboard cases. You can buy your copy here for cheap, or get mp3s for free via the Bandcamp link above.
